In this world there are certain things you don't discuss in polite society, among those being politics, and then the topic of this post religion. I don't wish to discuss religion per se here, but more of what I have come to believe in 30 years. To start I grew up Christian, taken to church each week by my parents till my senior year when I chose to continue going after my parent's stopped and drove myself to church myself. Maybe it was thanks to our Youth Christian education director at my church deciding it was best to teach us during the year about other religions in a complete non-judgemental fashion about other religions and beliefs, but I have found I love to learn about others and that led to my current belief structure.
You see, though I still consider myself a christian I do not follow the normal paths of Mainstream Christianity. I prefer to follow the first 4 books of the New Testament, that being the actual teachings of Jesus. The rest of the books to me were written purely by man, and thus judgemental and got the message wrong. Jesus had said to love everyone as you wish to be loved, but "Christians" now adays judge and hate everyone, Gays, other religions, even other sects of christianity such as Mormons and Jehova's Witnesses. Now I prefer to to maintain not judging others until I have found a reason, even through research, to make a judgement.
Anyways, since college days and beyond I have become eclectic in my beliefs, I still follow the teachings of Jesus, but now I also believe in various other Dieties, including the Norns of the Norse belief, Bast of the Egyptians, Inari of Shinto, among others. Each one has certain reasons for me to include them into my own personal belief structure, such as Bast who is the Goddess of Cats and since I am a cheetah and as such a Cat it kind of becomes a natural progression to at least keep her in my personal Pantheon.
Where am I going with all this now...even I'm not quite sure after typing this all out, but in the end maybe it's just something I wish to share with the rest of the furries on this site, because it does show some of my more personal ideals, such as not judging others around here or in my own life. As always comments and feedback are always welcome.
