I am glad they repealed the DADT. Personally, I'd be ashamed of my government for wanting me to fight in their wars as long as I kept my mouth shut about my personal life. Yes, there are still a lot of gray areas to be worked out. A lot. But it's a start.
i dont feel the goverment needs to be in our personal lives. whomever i wish to be with honestly isnt anyone business i am not saying DADT was a good thing i just dont feel it anyome sexuality should even matter is all. (on a lighter note seeing a bunch of our military personel charging towards the enemy in pink camo and glow sticks tied to there guns yeiling "WE HERE TO KICK YOUR ASS AND WE LOOK FABULOUS!!!!!" would be awesome. LOL)

I agree that the government does not belong in our personal lives. I just think that the DADT kept a lot of homosexuals in the closet for fear of losing their jobs in the military. Plus, they could not openly live with their partners because of fear of retribution. They didn't have to "tell" of their homosexuality, but I think that they couldn't openly live with or see their partner without it being considered "telling".

Yeah, you didn't have to deliberately come out to "tell". The change was essentially one of going from "you can't be gay in the military" to "you can't be CAUGHT being gay in the military", which did exactly nothing, of course.
The only good thing DADT accomplished for gay soldiers was the "Don't Ask" part, where the question of your sexuality was taken off the enlistment forms.
