It all begins with the sand pirates, in the good ol days when they where the kings of The big nowhere. They originaly started this settlement, it was a relativly big one. It became the central hub for all their activity in this dessert. Here also live a Engineer call Eward String. He was one of the many engineers who helped to design and maintain the sand pirates dessert ships. But he was also working on something new. The sand pirates maintained their pirating on land because of their notorius fear of water, but they where rather restrained by only being able to travel by sand, such as dessert sand.
Eward came up with a solution to this, Air travel.
Mind you this was quite long ago, before modern air travel. Anyway. He created blue prints to create a skyship, he also had a workshop where he had almost finished constructing it. But one day, a massive sand storm came, and covered the whole camp up.
Since then the workshop has been covered by miles of sand, or so some would think. I and some other members of the decendant Sandpirates came here looking for the workshop and the airship, planing on utelising its power to plunder everything under the blue sky. Tough soon, trouble started to brew. Greed overcame the men, and for a week we tried to kill eachother of in the most stealthy and suddle ways possible, it was quite fun actualy. When one night there was only me, and Sarah Coppergirth left, naturaly i was planning on stabbing her in her sleep. But she got wise on me and fled to the mountains, to the Ivorypick mines. I chased after her, with a musket mind you, but it was to late. The last thing i heard out of Sarah was a spine chilling scream when she got killed by what ever lies within those mines.
I thought that i finaly was the sole survivor and went back to claim my prize, but what i found was dissappointing. There was just pieces of scrap metal and a half finished boat rig down in the workshop, and all his instructions where gone. I went back to his study and read through all his notes, aperantly he had a secret study out near Ground Horn mountain to keep his essential notes secure from competition. The problem was that no one knew where groundhorn mountain was, he mentioned a map but it was nowhere to be found. I searched everywhere on all the bodies but could not fins it. I then rememberd that Coppergirth was in the study last and came to the conclution that she most have had it. But i could not go back. So i stayed here, near the mines. I set up a tavern in our old excavation site, soon other settles came and started up this sad excuse for a city. It was so it was...Until you came and got me the map *Grim points at the Collie*
After i got it i went to the secret studdy so fast that i could, when i got there i saw that it was under heavy mechanical security. Still working after such a long time. I got past most of it rather unharmed, and then i got to the study.
When i reached for the book i sprung one final trap. It was two spikes, intended to blind the person that was trying to see his secrets, luckily one of the pikes that were to blind me was rusted and did not activate. Gathering up all the things i could, including my eye, i ran back to dusttrodders Respite. And you know the rest.
